Ernestina Jošt: "Music has always been more than just a profession for me - it’s a way of connecting, feeling, and sharing something beyond words. I believe that music has the power to transport people, to offer them a moment of escape, reflection, or pure joy. Whether I’m on stage or in a more intimate setting, my greatest reward is knowing that my voice can bring someone a sense of beauty, comfort, or inspiration.Last year, I also stepped into a new and incredible role—becoming a mother. Sharing my passion for music with my daughter has given it an even deeper meaning. Music is now not only something I give to audiences but also something I pass on in the most personal way. Seeing the wonder in my daughter’s eyes when she hears melodies reminds me of the magic that first drew me to music, and it fills me with even more joy to continue sharing that magic with the world."
Ernestina Jošt is a Slovenian soprano renowned for her captivating performances and versatile vocal artistry. She pursued her master's degree at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana under the mentorship of Theresa Plut. Throughout her career, Jošt has portrayed a range of operatic roles, including the Mother in Damijan Močnik's youth opera "Všeč si mi" in 2020 and Cunegonde in Leonard Bernstein's "Candide" with the Slovenian Chamber Music Theatre in 2021. Her concert repertoire is equally impressive, featuring performances of Mozart's Mass in C major, Vivaldi's Gloria in D major, and Kim André Arnesen's "Magnificat" with the Carmen Manet choir and the Slovenian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. In 2020, Jošt's exceptional talent was recognized with a first prize at the International Music Competition Maribor. She has further honed her craft by participating in masterclasses with esteemed artists such as Charlotte Lehmann, Kate Royal, and Martin Wölfel. Jošt's commitment to her art led her to the International Opera Academy in Ghent, Belgium, where she commenced her studies in October 2022. Her dedication culminated in her graduation after an intensive 10-month program, during which she acquired substantial new knowledge and experience. Beyond her operatic endeavors, Jošt has collaborated with artists like Stefan Meylaers and Ilya Rimar, resulting in notable works such as "Vicino ma lontano" and "Vaudeville." Her dynamic vocal range and expressive performances continue to captivate audiences, solidifying her reputation as a distinguished figure in the classical and operatic music scenes.
